Volunteer

A Plone Conference is a taxing, challenging, potentially debilitating adventure for the organizers.  Past conference organizers have gone mad.  Without the help of a team of volunteers, it simply wouldn’t be possible.

We appreciate all offers of support from our friends and colleagues.  If you thrive in a fast-paced, self-starting, oft-changing, pant-optional environment, we encourage you to contact us to offer yourself up as a sacrifice to the Plone gods.  We will do our best to utilize your skills in a way that is productive for the conference and satisfying to you.

We realize that different people are motivated to volunteer for different reasons.  Some volunteer to get a free pass, others to feel a sense of accomplishment or for “being a part” of things.  While we can’t guarantee anything, we will strive to find a meaningful task to match your skills.  This isn’t a “cool kids club” and we won’t turn anyone away so long as we can find something for you to help with and you’re planning to contribute in a positive way.

Some examples of volunteer roles we’ve been working with:

• web developers and designers
• programming
• financial assistants (accounting & bookkeeping)
• social media networking
• marketing and promotion planners
• setup and strike teams
• travel and lodging coordination
• “Concierge” staff for events
• arts and event coordinators
• hospitality

If you feel like you have useful skills to contribute, and think you might look great in disco pants rocking an earpiece and a bullhorn, give us a shout and we’ll see what we can do.
